Carney Family | Burnet, TX

Family photography is a beautiful journey that allows us to witness the bonds, the love, and the unique personalities that make each family special. Recently, we had the privilege of spending a memorable day with the Carneys, a family of four filled with warmth, laughter, and love.

It was a little cold when we got there, and it took the kiddos a minute to warm up, figuratively and literally. Taking photos can often feel so awkward at first, I get it! But after a few strategic poses and some more interaction with mom and dad in front of the camera, the boys lit up with the best smiles.

There was a bit of negotiation involving a cowboy hat. Thankfully I have a lot of experience with photographing cowboy hats, living in Texas.

That being said, my number one advice for cowboy hats in family photos is to hedge your bets. The shadows caused by the brim can often be tricky to edit, and it's always better to be safe than sorry. I think we came up with a great pose with the cowboy hat where you could still see his cute face!

Older brother wasn't about to be upstaged, though!

Mom and Dad were super easygoing and laid back, genuinely just very friendly! Mom's only request was that she wanted a photo of the boys playing. We strategically saved this one for the end of the session, juuuuuust in case there was a wardrobe issue (grass stains, rips, something I can't even predict!).

But they did a great job! I was super impressed. I love the way their photos turned out, and the lighting was just amazing. It made the little chill in the air worth it for sure!
