Fall 2023 Austin-Area Mini-sessions!

Do you want high quality photos of your family or even just the kids, but don't want to make a huge investment? Check out our Fall 2023 Mini-Session dates to see if any work for you. We'll go to a variety of places in the Austin area, see if one works for you!

For $75, you get 20 minutes and at least five high-quality, professionally edited photos. If you fill your entire day (four slots) with friends/family/Facebook pals, everyone gets their session for $50 a family!

Previous clients have loved their family photos, and we know you will, too!

There are only four slots on each day, so make sure and sign up while you still can!

Wondering what to expect at a mini-session? A mini-session is a great way to get photos of your family that will last a lifetime at a fraction of the cost of a normal professional session. This means there are several sessions back-to-back, and makes a few things extra important:

  • Show up about 5-10 minutes before your time slot. Because there are clients coming after your session as well as before, we won’t be able to stay later to make up the difference in time. If you arrive late, we’ll only have the amount of time remaining in your slot to take the photos, which will result in fewer final images for you to have.

  • Make sure your littles know they’re taking photos. We know that kiddos are unpredictable, but making sure they know what’s happening beforehand can make a huge difference in their mood when they get there. I’m happy to let them see the screen and even “assist” to get a little more comfortable with a large camera, but if they’re stressed or confused, the photos we get won’t be nearly as cute as they could be!

  • Know your must-haves. I’ll have plenty of posing ideas that we'll do, but if there’s a specific shot you have in mind that you are dying to get, let me know! We’ll cover most of the basics, but it will never hurt my feelings for you to say, “I would love to have a photo of us all laughing and looking relaxed,” or, “It’s important to me to have a really formal, posed photo for my in-laws.”

  • Come prepared with small bribes. Of course, having all the kids in a great mood and willing to give their best smile is the ideal, but with a small time frame, this doesn’t always happen. If your littles have a favorite treat, or if they get a little extra screen time right before the session to help them relax, the smiles you get in return will be well worth it. Hopefully, we won’t need them, but it never hurts to come prepared!

What Should We wear?

The shortest possible answer to this question is: nice but comfortable clothes. If you or your littles are in super uncomfortable clothes, it’s going to make the whole experience way more stressful! Of course, it’s always great to wear nice clothes that you’ll be excited to see in photos you have on your wall, but make sure you’re keeping in mind that the goal of the photos is to look happy.

If you’re struggling with ideas for outfits or just want a little inspiration, check out our boards at pinterest.com/wednesday_bailey for tons of great tips, examples, and ideas. As far as hair, nails, and makeup go, if you pamper yourself, I promise you will feel more relaxed and confident for your session.

A few more specific suggestions: avoid large logos, thin stripes and animated characters on clothes, avoid neon colors that may leave a color cast on faces and skin, layers and accessories (to a certain point!) look great, and make sure you can move comfortably in your clothes.
