Teryl M. | Burnet Town Square

On St. Patrick's Day, I headed up to Burnet, Texas (home of the Bluebonnet Festival!) to take some photos of Teryl. Teryl is a busy momma who also works as a Realtor and at the Burnet Chamber of Commerce. We go way back when we both worked at UT Austin (many moons ago), and I was so excited to see her and catch up. She is super busy right now preparing for the Burnet Bluebonnet Festival, but we took a couple hours to head out and get some updated photos! The first stop was the giant bluebonnet by the Burnet Chamber of Commerce.

Her kiddos stopped by briefly and we got a couple shots with them as well!

Then we headed to historic downtown Burnet to run around the town square. The first stop was outside the library where Teryl sometimes works her job as a Realtor for LandMasters Real Estate.

I asked Teryl to bring the tools she uses to do her work, and she literally brought THREE different coffee containers, so I'd say coffee is up there! These shots turned out so cute as she tried really hard not to laugh at all my directions.

Once she got to this point, she couldn't help but laugh though! She brought her BFF Jessi who was helping with some of the ridiculous photo prompts I printed out for her. I don't remember the one she said here, but it cracked Teryl up!

But who wouldn't want this for a headshot?? Seriously, so pretty! From there, we did a quick wardrobe change and headed to the town square center for a few shots.

Teryl and I met working together at UT Austin, where she was a great fundraiser! Now she's a momma of two adorable kids, a realtor, and ALL up on the small town gossip. I learned so much while I was there 😂

A big benefit of a small-town photo shoot is that you don't have to worry as much about traffic, either cars or pedestrian. Despite it being Friday and St. Patrick's Day, we were able to get around without disrupting too many folks!

I'm always learning as a photographer, and Teryl's session prompted me to add a section to my guide called "What Do I Do with My Hands?" because she was having Ricky Bobby fears. She was a phenomenal model though, so fun and easy to work with. I can only hope all my shoots go this smoothly!

From the town square, we headed over to Mad Hatter's. Inside, I was a little confused because there was a barber station, and lots of people sitting in mismatched furniture. Apparently, it was a barber shop, but in true small town fashion, people just started coming in there to catch up and hang out, so the owner made it multipurpose! Straight out of a sitcom. I also couldn't hardly get any photos inside without someone coming over to talk with Teryl. She knew everyone, and everyone knew and loved her! It was such a fun experience, never having spent much time in a small town.

If you know someone in the hill country looking for real estate, reach out to Teryl at LandMasters! She's the best and can definitely get you where you need to be. I can't wait for my next trip up to Burnet!
